Installments of One for the Future focus on high-intensity and are generally smaller in scale. Attempts have been made to make each installment as replayable as possible, within the constraints imposed by the scenario's premise.

The Cosmonarch is the first incarnation of the custom game mode, Threshold. Veeq7 and Pr0nogo worked closely to design the ruleset and implement many things that were previously thought to be arduous or impossible, such as recycling player slots and creating AI mid-game.

Due to the incredible scope of the technical challenges we faced, there was unfortunately insufficient time to add dialogue. This will be revisited eventually.

In July of 2022, it was found that swapping an AI's race while they had no active script did not yield any issues, and this discovery allowed any player slot to work with any race in Threshold scenarios.

A Big Boy's Table is a technical demonstration of what is possible with the advanced AI layout system and the various custom triggers that were developed for Cosmonarchy BW during 2022. Veeq7 and Pr0nogo collaborated on designing expansive and powerful tools for developers to create unique and compelling scenarios, and while the initial execution of this mission appeared quite fragile, it was a necessary stepping stone to something greater.

This scenario was deployed with a few critical caveats, which will soon be addressed:
  • Expanding to the bottom right causes issues, as there is no method to dynamically locate a free base for the AI ally to spawn at.
  • Aggressive or unexpected play is liable to cripple the hyper-specialized AI Terran.
  • Variations on dialogue events and AI openers are not yet implemented. This includes truncated and randomized dialogue events for when the player has already witnessed the "primary" dialogue event.
  • Player color changes do not yet happen with a graceful fade.
